About

I’m Yara Mitsuishi, currently developing my PhD research on digital games at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. This project is being conducted in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture, Humanities Doctoral Program, within Communications, Philosophy and Sociology.

My choice for digital games as thesis subject derives from metaphysical wonderings and a neverending curiosity over technology/communications. Games, games and games, one could say.

I’m interested in digital environments phenomena from the time I developed my honors thesis (Sociology) on sociality in IRC chatrooms. In my MA thesis (Communications) I questioned how people integrate digital routines in everyday life, thus affecting time/space management. These projects were developed at Universidade de São Paulo (FFLCH-USP and ECA-USP), and were funded by FAPESP.

Detailed information about my current and past research activities are in the Traces page.
