a bit of me

Here in Montreal, Canada, they believe I’m Brazilian. When I am in São Paulo, Brazil, they say I am Japanese. When I travel to any other country, they think I’m from Canada. In my opinion, I am an immovable nomad who never left anywhere, never arrived anywhere and yet inhabit multiple simultaneous spaces.

I love straightforward communication, whatever this means, anyway.

other bits

Apart from academic research, during the last decade I have worked with graphic design and website development: illustrations for regular magazines and e-zines (Photoshop collage artwork), web banner animations (Flash/actionscript), basic website design (xhtml, javascript, css) and CMS development in ASP and PHP (SQL in MySQL, Access, etc.). Overall, I worked on approximately 150 images, 50 web banners, and 18 websites, and it would take an eternity to prepare and upload them as a portfolio here, but if one day I enter in an obsessive nostalgia attack I might do it.

As nowadays my academic interests take most of my time, I’m retiring from the “hands on” of graphic design, although once in a while I still collaborate with old partners, and certainly these work experiences are a permanent reference when I reflect upon theory.

And btw, “Bloknot” means “notepad” according to a dutch speaker friend. Years ago, this domain name used to point to my test server, a work in progress interface in the exchange with clients and partners.
